Brand consulting
Alongside the newsroom, News Avenue takes on a small number of PR and brand consulting engagements. What follows is what that work looks like and who it is for.
Every organisation has a version of itself it believes it is presenting, and a version its customers actually experience. The distance between the two is the work.
Brand consulting here means closing that gap: working out what the organisation is genuinely for, and then making the outside of it — the name, the words, the way it behaves when something goes wrong — match.
What we take on
- Positioning — what you are for, who it is for, and what you are deliberately not. The last of those is usually the one that unlocks the rest.
- Naming and language — the words an organisation uses about itself, from the name down to the sentences on the invoice.
- Brand audits — an outside read on how the brand is actually landing, which is rarely the same as how it is being managed.
- Rebrands and refreshes — the whole thing, run so that the people inside the organisation recognise themselves in what comes out.
How we work
We do not start with a logo. A brand that only exists in a style guide is a document, not a brand, and the work of deciding what an organisation is cannot be done by a designer working from a brief somebody wrote in an afternoon.
So the first phase is usually conversations and reading: what you say, what your competitors say, what your customers say when you are not in the room. The design work comes after that, and it is the shorter half.
What we will not promise
We cannot promise that a rebrand will grow revenue by a number. Anyone who does is selling you a forecast they have no way to make.
What we can promise is that you will understand your own organisation better at the end of it than you did at the start, and that what we build will still be true in five years.
Starting
The brief form is the way in. Tell us what the organisation is and what has stopped working about how it presents itself. If a rebrand is not what you need, we will tell you that too.
Start with a brief.
Tell us what you are trying to do. We reply with what we would do, what it would cost and how long it would take — and nothing is charged for that conversation.
