GAC Emkoo Review: Sleek, Spacey, Sexy — a Whole Starship Situation

Okay… so I got to test out the GAC Emkoo and let me just say: WHAT A VEHICLE Like, excuse me, did I just step into a luxurious spaceship Was I abducted by an alien with a thing for ambient lighting and sexy grills Because that’s exactly how it felt.
Let me not even beat around the very stylish bush. Chinese car brands They are NOT playing with y’all anymore. They are coming for the girls, the boys, the uncles, the CEOs — everyone is under attack with how much value these brands are packing into these cars.
First Things First: My Top 3 Obsessions

Because obviously, we rank things over here.
1. THE EXTERIOR
Hello sexy From the bold grill to the aerodynamic curves, the Emkoo gives straight up "rich auntie who just got promoted and takes her skincare seriously" vibes. That front end 10 out of 10 It’s giving luxury, it’s giving modern spaceship, it’s giving “look at me even when I’m parked”.
2. THE SPACE
It’s a whole apartment in here. Foldable seats, generous boot space, roomy backseats, and enough compartments for your snacks, perfume, extra charger, lip gloss, and that “just in case” umbrella, notebook, handbag - because us girls are forever carrying it all. Thoughtful design I felt seen.
3. THE COMFORT
Smooth is an understatement. Driving the Emkoo on the curvy Upper Highway roads felt like I was gliding through the clouds. No jerks, no drama — just me and my Emkoo floating like we’re in a luxury dream.

My First Impressions
I’ll be honest I hadn’t even noticed the Emkoo on the road before this. But once I laid eyes and hands on it, I was obsessed The features The finish The style The consistency in its design GAC really said “Let’s give her everything” and they did.
We’re talking sexy LED light displays, keyless entry that literally senses your vibe okay your proximity but same thing, and a power tailgate that opens at the push of a button or hands free if your hands are full of Woolies bags.
Features That Deserve Their Own Reality Show
Ambient lighting yes, set the mood
Memory seats because we don’t have time to readjust every time someone borrows the car
Panoramic sunroof natural lighting and main character energy
Electric hidden door handles sleek AF
Auto folding mirrors the car literally tidies up after itself
Also The 235 55 R19 tyres say “Let’s go to brunch… then hit a gravel road if we feel like it” So yes, it handles off road with just as much grace as it does suburban traffic.

Let’s Talk Tech because hello we’re Millennials
360° camera 2D and 3D views - we love to see it
Wireless charging pad and USB ports for the backseat passengers
Heads up display on the windshield I felt like Tony Stark
3 drive modes Eco, Comfort, Sport Basically, "I'm chill," "I'm cruising," and "I’m late for my lash appointment"
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto seamless integration well mostly we'll get to that
Self parking function yes, the car will park itself All you have to do is exist
Cruise control, lane assist, blind spot assist, emergency braking, electronic stability control the whole driver’s assist menu is served.

Let’s Talk Moola
Because we all want the tea on pricing right

GAC Emkoo Executive Plus – From R559 900
Honestly, for everything you’re getting That’s borderline daylight generosity.

Performance and Fuel Economy
This beauty has a 55L petrol tank and boasts a fuel consumption of 6.4L per 100km which is myth busting news for all those who think Chinese cars drink fuel like it’s happy hour, Spoiler - they don’t.
Yes, you do get a spare tyre sadly it’s a Marie Biscuit and a full wheel changing kit too.

The Few Icks Because No One Is Perfect
Slight lag during takeoff when overtaking It's not a big deal but I did feel like I had to ask nicely for the car to move faster
Infotainment system is not the most intuitive, like sis is smart but she’s not easy to get to know so you’ll need a little date night to figure her out
Apple CarPlay disconnects occasionally, annoying when you’re vibing and some of my calls mysteriously ended themselves
So yeah just a few minor glitches that could be smoothed out but nothing dramatic enough to ruin the overall glow up.

Final Thoughts
The GAC Emkoo made me feel like a bougie corporate baddie, an explorer, a boss mom, and an undercover celeb all at once. People stopped me, they complimented the car I blushed - I felt like somebody. Definitely a car you look back at twice when walking away from it in the mall parking. 😎

If you’re a family person, a tech lover, a design girlie, or someone who just wants everything at a reasonable price, the Emkoo is coming for you and you want to be caught.
Bravo GAC You snapped!

And who knows I might just be your next customer...
